Since I can't seem to post my reply in the proper topic for the moment, and I have let our amazing admins know about it, I'll post it here.

Hypatia,
Thank you for sharing that story, and I'll be sure to find some of those books. I enjoy lesbian literature as much as gay works.
Personally, I have found that there is quite a bit of good quality, non-porn stories available on the internet from certain sites which encourage actual creative writing. Two of those are:
http://www.crvboy.com
http://www.awesomedude.com
A few of my favorite authors are:
Christopher Patrick Lydon, David Buffet, Brew Maxwell, Mike Arrem, Kiwi, Douglas, Camy, Jet, Cole Parker, and Tim Mead. Those folks have written quite a few compelling stories. I'm making the scifi series by Christopher Patrick Lydon into a full cast audio drama. Ten of the twelve episodes are available to download for free from:

Anyway, I hope some of you get some good reading out of those resources.
Thanks.

renfro92w, thanks for your post. I'm going to check out those websites.

Another book I read in the past couple years, was "Bittersweet."

From the library. Notes
STORY OF TWO WOMEN IN THE OLD WEST, WHO ARE NOT ONLY PIONEERS BUT LOVERS. THE EXPOSURE
OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP FORCES THEM TO FLEE FROM A PENNSYLVANIA TOWN AND TAKE REFUGE
IN NEVADA, WHERE THEY BECOME INNKEEPERS. PORTRAYS INTERESTING DETAILS ABOUT PIONEER
LIFE AND CUSTOMS. SOME DESCRIPTIONS OF SEX. SOME STRONG LANGUAGE

renfro92w, if you read bittersweet, let me know what you thought. It stuck with me for a while.

A very good book I read recently was Fall On Your Knees by Ann-Marie MacDonald which I got from bookshare. It's a fairly dark family saga, set in Northern Canada and if you read it, don't get caught up in looking for the lesbian content. It's more interesting if you just let yourself immerse in the story.

Very interesting to read the recollections about the womans braille press on the corresponding thread to this one. We are lucky in the UK that we have a specific library where we can borrow feminist and lesbian literature in audio formatt. Pretty much the equivalent of Womans braille press I think and I think some of those original titles that were mentioned are still available to borrow. Ok, I love reading and I love lesbian literature. Here are some authors and books that I can recommend. All of Jeanette Winterson's books: Oranges are not the only fruit, The Passion, Written on the body and Sexing the cherry are her most popular works although she is a very prolific writer and there are others including non-fiction that I have not mentioned. I guess her work could be considered postmoddern-she plays with the relationship between myth, fantasy and reality. She is a fascinating writer, her prose are beautiful and if you read her books you will discover the secret to my screen name! for very sexy romance fictions about lesbians there is Karin Kallmaker, another prolific lesbian writer, she is completely different to Jeanette Winterson-I guess you could describe her work as chick lit for lesbians! but anyway, very enjoyable in my opinion! a few other lesbian writers to look out for are: Fiona Cooper, Jackie Kay, Kate Kalloway, Kathrine V forest, Caia March, Lee Lynch, well there are loads more but that will do for now!

Wow I'll totally have to check some of this stuff out... I've only actually read a few glbt oriented books. They are Annie on my mind which was a great book in audio and the cool thing is there was an interview with Nancy Garden, the author afterwords, A density of souls by Christopher rice, and The snow garden by him as well. The later two books aren't all about the GLBT aspect but still awesome but it's there.
